I remember the time when I left the corporate world a few years ago and decided to tip-toe into the unfamiliar world of online business. I knew nuts about the business back then and my initial thoughts of it was that it was just buying and selling stuff over the internet for a profit.

A search on the internet produces several variations of definitions for that particular term.
For example, Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia, defines it this way :
“Affiliate Marketing is a type of performance-based marketing in which a business rewards one of more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the affiliates own marketing efforts.“

Another definition, appearing on the website of one Neil Patel, a dude popular in the digital marketing circle, puts it this way :
“Affiliate marketing is the process of earning a commission by promoting other people’s [or company’s] products. You find a product you like, promote it to others and earn a piece of the profit for each sale that you make.“
